both for the girls as well as for basketball

pleasure as a basis

NGGB brings basketball to girls through schools and local basketball clubs.

For the girls: Play and discover with peace of mind. We create a safe environment where fun is the biggest motivator for moving together.

For sports By increasing club membership, we ensure a broad and vital base. We make the step to the local club logical and accessible.

growth in strength & size

When girls play, they grow mentally, socially, and physically.

For the girls: Basketball builds self-confidence and a social network. We focus on grassroots sports: healthy, strong girls who truly learn to play together.

For sports We help clubs set up a sustainable broad girls' program. We strive for the influx of complete V12 teams across the Netherlands, so that the competition will be even more vibrant.

From player to leader

Sports build life skills.

For the girls: Basketball strengthens girls' physical and mental positions, making them more confident, both on and off the court.

For sports By investing now in a strong overall influx, the position of Dutch women's basketball on the (inter)national courts will be strengthened in the future.

NGGB stands for 2030 new basketball girls in 2030

With only 25% girls playing basketball in the Netherlands, there’s a lot of work to be done. Together with the local clubs and She Got Game NGGB is building this new chapter.

MISSION

NGGB connects a new generation of girls with local basketball clubs to let them experience the power and fun of the greatest team sport in the world.

VISION

NGGB guides girls aged 6 to 11 to the local basketball club through (after-school) activities in an accessible way. NGGB focuses solely on recreational sports and bridges the gap for girls who do not participate in sports enough.

AMBITION

In 2030, 2,030 additional girls under 12 years old will have been welcomed to Dutch basketball clubs, resulting in approximately 250 extra U12 teams proudly taking the court weekly.

Founder and Program Coordinator introduces himself

Albert Taminiau

nggb kampioenen

For over 40 years, basketball has been a big part of my life. My daughters have now also embraced the love for this sport. As a father and coach, I see its power for them: fun, team spirit, physical resilience, and taking your own position.

But I also see challenges. My daughters (14 and 18 years old) are forced to play on the same team because there simply aren't enough girls. Where I could develop in a stable team at my level as a boy back then, girls have to switch between age groups every year, and there's no differentiation by level available. The lack of a broad base in Dutch women's basketball leads to unnecessary dropouts.

Things need to change! With support from She Got Game, I have an ambitious goal: to get 2,030 additional new girls playing basketball by 2030. For basketball, for grassroots sports, and for the girls who deserve a full future on the court.

My motto? A good assist is always better than an ugly score.
